The company Maria Wolmestam was founded in the summer of 2015. I have always loved jewelry (and horses), and during a car trip to Skåne, I came up with the brilliant idea of making bracelets out of horsehair. So, I started by making bracelets for all my horse friends at the stable back home.
Through these horsehair jewelry pieces, I often get to connect with all of you fellow horse people and hear wonderful stories about these amazingly beautiful animals. Some are sad, but all are full of love. That adds an extra dimension and meaning to the braiding process.
I also love silversmithing, so there are quite a few horses, bits, and horseshoes in silver; when something turns out really well, I ask a supplier to manufacture it so I can have a larger stock. In genuine silver or steel.
